ADVERTISING POLICIES

The Spartan Weekly News will reserve the right to edit any advertisement appropriately or refuse advertisement. All efforts will be made to ensure that any advertisement placed in our newspaper is correct. We will have proofs available for any advertisement ¼ page and over at our office; upon request, you may view the proof up to 5 p.m. on Monday before insertion. If an error appears in a published advertisement we will credit your account for one additional advertisement of the same size in the next issue. The Spartan Weekly News will not be held liable for any damages resulting from publication of an advertisement in our newspaper; the cost of the advertisement will be our only liability. Tearsheets will be provided upon request, and delivered with our bill for services at the end of each month. We accept advertisements in many formats including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat .pdf files, .tiff files, .jpg files, CDs, among others. We cannot guarantee position, but will make all efforts to accommodate our advertisers.

DEADLINES

Display advertisements must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday for publication the following Thursday. The deadline for classified ads is 5 p.m. on Monday for publication on Thursday.

Cancellation of any ad must be made by 5 p.m. on Monday.

ADVERTISING RATES

LOCAL OPEN RATE….. $3.00

NATIONAL RATE (OUTSIDE OF S.C.)…..$4.00

LARGE SIZE ADS
We offer special discounted rates for large-size ads of one-half page and one full page. The charge for a half-page ad is $200 per week and the charge for a full-page ad is $300 per week.
COMMISSION

A commission of 15% will be granted to advertising agencies, applicable only on the stated national rate of $5.00.

MINIMUM SIZES

The minimum size for a display advertisement is less than 7 square inches total. This is an ad that is 2 inches in length and 2 columns wide. This is what we refer to as “business card” size.

DEPTH REQUIREMENTS

Advertisements measuring more than 19 inches in depth will be billed for the cost of a full size page, which is 21 inches in depth.

CHURCH/NON-PROFIT RATE

We offer a special advertising rate to churches of $2.00 per column inch.

GRAPHICS CHARGES

We will not charge extra for standard composition charges. However, if detailed work is necessary to compose an ad that is beyond normal, additional charges of $20.00 per hour may be charged.

CLASSIFIED ADS

Classified ads for personal items are published free of charge. The cost for a commercial classified ad is $5.00 per week for up to 25 words. An additional 50¢ will be charged for each additional 5 words. All classified ads must be paid for in advance.

PREPRINTED INSERTS

Cost for preprinted inserts (up to 16-page tab):

Single Sheet or 4 Page Tab: $50 per thousand

8 or 16 Page Tab: $60 per thousand

Preprinted inserts should be delivered to The Spartan Weekly News office no later than Tuesday at 5 p.m. for insertion on Thursday.
