Summer shopping season is about to get a lot more exciting as the Summer Market at Drayton returns to Drayton Mills on Saturday, June 27, bringing together tons of local vendors, artisans, makers, food vendors and small businesses for one of Spartanburg’s most anticipated seasonal events.
The market will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at Drayton Mills, 1800 Drayton Road, and admission and parking are both free. The event is hosted by Market at Drayton and presented by Cattledog Event Co., whose seasonal markets have grown into popular community gatherings that draw shoppers from across the Upstate.
Set against the historic brick backdrop of Drayton Mills, visitors can expect an afternoon filled with shopping, food, drinks, local products, family activities and plenty of opportunities to discover new favorite businesses. The event is pet-friendly and designed to be enjoyed by shoppers of all ages.
One of the biggest draws each year is the variety. Vendors range from boutique clothing retailers and handmade artisans to jewelry makers, home décor creators, specialty food vendors and gift shops. With usually more than 100 booths spread throughout the venue, no two visits are exactly alike.
Among the vendors already generating buzz for this year’s market is Bespoke Permanent Jewelry, known for its unique permanent jewelry experience and collection of gold, silver and gemstone pieces. Market organizers recently highlighted the business as a featured vendor, encouraging shoppers to stop by and treat themselves to a custom piece while supporting a local small business.
Also slated to attend is The Holler Boutique, which plans to bring its popular mom-and-me apparel collection to the market. Previews have showcased coordinating summer outfits, casual loungewear and children’s clothing that are expected to be among the boutique’s featured items during the event.
For many local residents, the market has become a tradition.
“My daughter and I try to make every market at Drayton,” said one Spartanburg shopper. “We love finding unique gifts, grabbing lunch and supporting people who have built their own businesses. It always feels like a community event, not just a market.”
Another local attendee said the atmosphere keeps bringing them back.
“You can spend hours there without realizing it. There are always new vendors to discover, and it’s fun seeing businesses you’ve followed online in person. We usually bring friends with us and make an afternoon out of it.”
Others appreciate the opportunity to support Spartanburg’s growing small-business community.
“I love that everything feels local and personal,” said one frequent visitor. “You meet the people making the products, hear their stories and know exactly where your money is going. That’s what makes these markets special.”
Beyond shopping, attendees can enjoy food and drink specials, summer-themed treats and the lively atmosphere that has become synonymous with Drayton Mills events. Organizers encourage visitors to arrive ready to browse, eat, shop and explore one of Spartanburg’s most unique destinations.
