An evening of great food, live music, exciting auction items and community impact is coming to Spartanburg later this month as HALTER invites the public to its annual Horsing with HALTER fundraiser.
The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at HALTER’s campus, 1400 Carolina Country Club Road in Spartanburg, with proceeds directly supporting the nonprofit’s equine-assisted programs for children and individuals facing physical, cognitive, emotional and developmental challenges.
Founded in 1987, HALTER—short for Healing & Learning Through Equine Relationships—has spent nearly four decades using the unique bond between horses and people to improve lives across Spartanburg and surrounding communities. Through therapeutic riding, horsemanship education and equine-assisted services, the organization helps participants build confidence, strengthen communication skills, improve balance and coordination, and reach personal goals in a supportive environment. Its mission is to improve quality of life through equine-assisted activities and therapies while helping every participant achieve their greatest potential.
The annual fundraiser is one of HALTER’s biggest events of the year, giving the community an opportunity to celebrate the organization’s impact while helping ensure its programs remain available for local families.
Guests can expect an evening featuring live music, delicious food, live and silent auctions, and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends while supporting a meaningful cause. Organizers say every ticket purchased helps create life-changing experiences for children served through HALTER’s programs.
One featured live auction item already generating excitement is an exclusive private dinner for four in The Vault at Citizens & Southern by Lucy Anne’s. The one-of-a-kind experience pairs a private dining experience with one of Spartanburg’s newest restaurants inside the historic Citizens & Southern building. Organizers say it is just one of many unique auction items that will be available throughout the evening.
Tickets are $60 per person, while tables of 10 are available for $1,000, making the event an ideal opportunity for businesses, families and groups of friends looking for a memorable night out while giving back to the community.
Those unable to attend can still support HALTER throughout the year. The nonprofit welcomes donations and relies heavily on volunteers to assist with riding sessions, horse care and special events. No previous horse experience is required, as volunteers receive training before working with participants. Youth ages 10 to 13 can also become involved through the organization’s Pony Pals program, while volunteers ages 14 and older may assist directly with riders after completing training.
