Do Portugal Circus brings four-day run to Spartanburg
The Do Portugal Circus will bring its traveling big-top show to the Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds in Spartanburg for six performances Aug. 6-9.
Founded in Mexico in 1911, the family-owned circus features an international cast of performers, including acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, clowns, motorcyclists, dancers and the Human Cannonball. Scottish-born ringmaster Jodie Leith serves as emcee. The production does not feature animals.
The show includes motorcycle riders performing inside the "Globe of Death," aerial acts on the Washington trapeze and other traditional circus attractions under a classic big-top tent.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7; 11:30 a.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8; and 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. Each show lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes, including an intermission.
Concessions, including popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, nachos and snow cones, will be available for purchase.
Tickets start at $20, with VIP seating also available.
