Spartanburg - A furniture retailer is making an early investment in the Spartanburg community.
Bob’s Discount Furniture recently celebrated the opening of its new Spartanburg location by presenting $5,000 in charitable donations to two local organizations that serve children and families.
The company donated $2,500 each to PS I Love You Ministries and West View Elementary School during a grand opening ceremony attended by local leaders, nonprofit representatives and company executives.
The new store, located at 108 Franklin Ave., marks Bob’s first location in Spartanburg.
Representatives from PS I Love You Ministries accepted one of the donations during the event. The faith-based nonprofit supports children in foster care by providing resources and assistance to foster families throughout the community.
Founded in Spartanburg, the organization works with churches, volunteers and community partners to help meet the needs of foster children and families navigating the foster care system.
The second donation was presented to West View Elementary School, which serves students in Spartanburg School District 6. School leaders said community partnerships and local support play an important role in helping provide educational opportunities and resources for students.
Spartanburg Mayor Jerome Rice and City Councilwoman Meghan Smith were among the local officials attending the grand opening celebration, which also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Company officials said supporting local organizations is an important part of establishing new stores in the communities they serve.
The 33,250-square-foot Spartanburg store offers furniture for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and home offices. The location also features an in-store café with complimentary snacks for customers.
While the store's opening brings a new retail option to Spartanburg shoppers, the event also highlighted the role local nonprofits and schools play in strengthening the community.
For PS I Love You Ministries and West View Elementary, the donations will help further their missions of serving children and supporting families across Spartanburg.
The Spartanburg location is part of Bob’s Discount Furniture’s continued expansion across the Southeast. Company officials said the retailer aims to become an active community partner in each market it serves, supporting local schools, nonprofits and charitable initiatives through donations and volunteer efforts.
For local residents, the opening represents more than the arrival of a new retailer. The charitable gifts presented during the grand opening underscore the importance of collaboration between businesses and community organizations in addressing local needs. As Spartanburg continues to grow, partnerships such as these help provide additional resources for students, foster families and other residents who rely on the support of nonprofit organizations throughout the community.
