There’s a certain kind of energy that only happens at the ballpark. It’s the sound of a crowd settling in, the crack of a bat, kids with snacks in hand, and that first bite of something you didn’t plan on ordering, but are so glad you did.
As the Hub City Spartanburgers head into a new season at Fifth Third Park, fans can expect more than just great baseball. They can expect an experience- one that blends the excitement of America’s pastime with a food scene that feels uniquely Spartanburg.
“We are excited about our partnership with Oak View Group (OVG), our concessionaire, and thrilled with the combined ballpark experience we worked together to create in year one at Fifth Third Park,” said Ian Unsworth, Broadcast and Media Relations Manager for the Spartanburgers.
That “experience” starts with the food.
One of the biggest highlights is the Spartanburgers’ Burger Bar- a build-your-own concept with more than 100 toppings. It’s designed for everyone, whether you’re keeping it classic or going all-in with something over the top. Vegetarian and gluten-free options also make it accessible for a wide range of fans.
And then there are the creative twists.
Fans can expect playful takes on ballpark staples like Deep Fried Pizza and Cracker Jack Beignets- items that feel nostalgic but with a fresh, indulgent spin. It’s the kind of menu that turns a simple trip to the concession stand into part of the night’s entertainment.
For those looking to sip while they watch, the Cabooze Bar is a must-stop. “The Cabooze Bar has a variety of different cocktails, including specialty cocktails for promotional dates,” Unsworth shared.
From experience, this is one you don’t skip.
At a game last season, I ordered the “Baseball Cocktail” from the Cabooze Bar and paired it with the BBQ nachos and it ended up being one of those unexpectedly perfect nights. Sitting with friends, watching the game, sharing bites back and forth- it was easy, fun, and exactly what a summer evening in Spartanburg should feel like.
That’s really what the Spartanburgers have done so well. They’ve created something that feels bigger than baseball.
Part of that comes from their intentional focus on local partnerships. “We have partnerships with other entities, such as Bojangles, Hazel’s Lemonade and Two Scoops Ice Cream to add a taste of the Upstate to our ballpark,” Unsworth said.
And the local experience doesn’t have to stop at the stadium gates.
One of the best parts of catching a game at Fifth Third Park is how easily it connects to downtown Spartanburg. You can make a whole evening out of it- start with dinner or end with drinks just steps away from the ballpark.
Grab a table at Main Street Pub for elevated bar favorites, or settle in at Sophia’s for a cozy Italian dinner that rivals some of the best in the state. El Paso Tacos & Tequila sits right across from the ballpark and is perfect for a quick margarita and tacos before first pitch. And if you’re looking to slow things down, Bond Street Wines offers the perfect spot to sip a glass outside and soak in the downtown atmosphere.
It’s the kind of night that reminds you why you love where you live.
The Spartanburgers, a High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have quickly become a centerpiece of that experience. With Fifth Third Park bringing new life and energy to downtown, this season feels like another step forward- not just for the team, but for the city as a whole.
Single game tickets for the 2026 season are on sale now, making it easy to grab a seat and be part of the excitement.
Whether you’re there for the game, the food, or just a night out with friends, one thing is certain: this season at the ballpark is about more than baseball.
It’s about community. It’s about showing up. And it’s about enjoying every bite of it.
