For 25 years, some of Spartanburg’s best food has helped support an even bigger cause.
The March of Dimes Spartanburg Signature Chefs Gala will return Thursday, Oct. 8, celebrating its 25th anniversary with a “Silver Soiree” bringing local chefs, supporters and community members together to benefit the organization’s work for moms and babies.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at Indigo Hall & Events, 190 Ezell St. in Spartanburg.
“If you’ve never been, think of it as one of the best food nights in Spartanburg with a purpose behind every bite,” said Lecia Hauer with March of Dimes. “You’ll move through the room tasting from some of our city’s best chefs, sipping a signature cocktail, bidding on incredible auction items, and by the end of the night, you’ll understand exactly why this event has lasted 25 years.”
Guests will move among curated tasting stations featuring dishes from local chefs and restaurants, accompanied by handcrafted cocktails and live entertainment. The evening will also include silent and live auctions featuring a variety of experiences and packages.
This year’s culinary lineup includes Zach Holland of Isla’s on the Square, Sarah McClure of Southside Smokehouse and Grille, Andy Cochran of Heirloom, A Milltown Eatery, and the team from Cribbs Kitchen.
“Guests can expect curated tasting stations that really show off what Spartanburg’s food scene can do,” Hauer said.
But while food is a major part of the evening, the event’s lasting impact comes from the community behind it.
“What makes Signature Chefs different is that it’s built by this community, for this community,” Hauer said. “Our chefs donate their time and talent, our sponsors show up year after year, and everyone in that room is there because they believe in giving every baby a healthy start.”
Funds raised support March of Dimes’ research, advocacy, education and programs for moms and babies, including efforts to reduce preterm birth and address health equity gaps in maternal care.
One of the evening’s signature moments, “Fund the Mission,” gives attendees an opportunity to make a direct contribution to that work.
“It’s the point in the night where guests can make a direct gift to that work, right here in our own community,” Hauer said.
With the gala marking a quarter-century in Spartanburg, Hauer encourages those interested in attending or sponsoring the event to make plans early.
“Don’t wait to grab a table, space is limited, and this is a night you don’t want to just hear about secondhand,” she said. “Whether you sponsor, buy a table, or simply come ready to bid, you’re directly helping give more moms and babies in our area a healthier start.
