Springs of Grace to hold community fish fry
Springs of Grace Lutheran Church will host a community fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the church, 320 Holden Drive in Inman.
The meal is $10 per person for the general public and includes fish, a baked potato, coleslaw, a beverage and dessert.
Balsam Range, Amanda Cook Band to bring bluegrass to Spartanburg
Bluegrass fans will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of live music when Balsam Range and the Amanda Cook Band take the stage Saturday, Sept. 12, at The Hall at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
Balsam Range is known for its award-winning musicianship, vocal harmonies and contemporary approach to traditional bluegrass. The Amanda Cook Band will join the group as the special guest, bringing Cook's powerful vocals and traditional bluegrass influences to the Spartanburg performance.
The concert will offer an evening of bluegrass music featuring instrumental picking, vocal harmonies and traditional mountain sounds.

Upstate Renaissance Faire returns at new Hollywild location
Step back in time when the Upstate Renaissance Faire opens its gates Sept. 18-20 at its new location, Hollywild Animal Preserve, located at 2325 Hampton Road in Wellford.
The three-day event will transport visitors to a medieval-inspired world featuring sword fighting, jousting, live entertainment, belly dancing and demonstrations by skilled craftspeople.
Attendees can browse a medieval artisan market, watch blacksmiths at work and explore craft demonstrations.

Fall for Hatcher returns September 22
Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve will welcome fall with its annual Fall for Hatcher fundraiser Sept. 22 in Spartanburg.
The event will feature a tasting trail winding through the Children’s Garden and other areas of the preserve. Guests can sample food and beverages prepared by local Spartanburg chefs and breweries while enjoying the garden’s seasonal surroundings.
The evening also will include a silent auction and other activities, with proceeds supporting Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve. The event offers attendees an opportunity to enjoy local food and drink while celebrating the arrival of autumn and supporting the preservation of one of Spartanburg’s community gardens.

Re:Degree celebrates 100 graduates
Re:Degree recently marked a milestone with 100 people earning a college degree or high-value certification since the Spartanburg County program launched in 2024.
The program initially was not expected to have its first graduates until 2026. Reaching 100 graduates ahead of those projections demonstrates the program’s progress in connecting with Spartanburg County residents who have completed some college coursework but have not earned a degree.
Re:Degree works with collegiate partners to help residents return to higher education and complete credentials that can lead to career and economic opportunities.
Program leaders credited their collegiate partners and the Spartanburg Academic Movement’s Movement 2030 initiative for providing foundational support.
With its first 100 graduates now celebrated, Re:Degree leaders are looking toward the next milestone as the program continues its efforts to help more Spartanburg County residents complete their postsecondary education.
