Hogback Mountain Day returns to Landrum
Landrum will celebrate its annual Hogback Mountain Day Festival on Saturday, Sept. 12, bringing a full day of arts, crafts, music, food and family activities to the community.
The event will feature the Landrum Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon, followed by the Mountain Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., showcasing local artisans and handmade goods. Visitors also can enjoy live music, food trucks, woodcarving demonstrations, carnival rides and displays of antique tractors throughout the day.
Hogback Mountain Day is one of Landrum’s largest annual community celebrations and draws visitors from throughout Spartanburg County and the surrounding Upstate. Additional event information is available through the City of Landrum.
Springs of Grace to hold community fish fry
Springs of Grace Lutheran Church will host a community fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the church, 320 Holden Drive in Inman.
The meal is $10 per person for the general public and includes fish, a baked potato, coleslaw, a beverage and dessert.
Spartanburg Philharmonic opens season with ‘American Heroes’
The Spartanburg Philharmonic will open its 2026-27 season Sept. 12 with “American Heroes,” a concert exploring themes of American identity, faith and resilience through the works of three influential composers.
The program will feature Philip Glass’ orchestral arrangement of David Bowie and Brian Eno’s iconic song “Heroes,” Montgomery’s “Hymn for Everyone” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” performed with a full chorus. The concert will launch the Philharmonic’s new season and bring together orchestral and choral forces for an evening of music centered on the American experience.

Taps & Tubes offers relaxing day on the Pacolet River
Those looking to enjoy the outdoors in Spartanburg County can take to the Pacolet River on Saturday, Sept. 12, during “Taps & Tubes,” a guided two-mile river float hosted by Vintage View River Retreat & Adventures.
The six-hour outing, scheduled from noon to 6 p.m., will include a guided float, shuttle transportation, equipment and lunch, with craft beverages available through participating local breweries and taprooms. The event will meet at The Beerded Cork, 2601 E. Main St., before participants head to the river.

SCDOT seeks input on proposed Spartanburg County roundabout
The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a proposed intersection improvement project at SC 49 (Union Highway) and SC 56 (Highway 56) in Spartanburg County.
The project calls for replacing the existing intersection with a single-lane roundabout. According to SCDOT, the proposed improvement is intended to enhance traffic operations and improve safety at the intersection.
Residents and other interested members of the public can review the proposed plans and submit comments through SCDOT’s project website. Comments will be accepted through Sept. 30.

Find the Good Day Benefit Planned for Sept. 16
The Junior League of Spartanburg and community partners will host “Find the Good Day” on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy dinner at Sully’s Steamers and The Hub Taproom, 578 N. Church St., while supporting the local organization.
A portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the Junior League of Spartanburg and its community initiatives.
Balsam Range, Amanda Cook Band to bring bluegrass to Spartanburg
Bluegrass fans will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of live music when Balsam Range and the Amanda Cook Band take the stage Saturday, Sept. 12, at The Hall at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
Balsam Range is known for its award-winning musicianship, vocal harmonies and contemporary approach to traditional bluegrass. The Amanda Cook Band will join the group as the special guest, bringing Cook's powerful vocals and traditional bluegrass influences to the Spartanburg performance.
The concert will offer an evening of bluegrass music featuring instrumental picking, vocal harmonies and traditional mountain sounds.

Upstate Renaissance Faire returns at new Hollywild location
Step back in time when the Upstate Renaissance Faire opens its gates Sept. 18-20 at its new location, Hollywild Animal Preserve, located at 2325 Hampton Road in Wellford.
The three-day event will transport visitors to a medieval-inspired world featuring sword fighting, jousting, live entertainment, belly dancing and demonstrations by skilled craftspeople.
Attendees can browse a medieval artisan market, watch blacksmiths at work and explore craft demonstrations.

Fall for Hatcher returns September 22
Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve will welcome fall with its annual Fall for Hatcher fundraiser Sept. 22 in Spartanburg.
The event will feature a tasting trail winding through the Children’s Garden and other areas of the preserve. Guests can sample food and beverages prepared by local Spartanburg chefs and breweries while enjoying the garden’s seasonal surroundings.
The evening also will include a silent auction and other activities, with proceeds supporting Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve. The event offers attendees an opportunity to enjoy local food and drink while celebrating the arrival of autumn and supporting the preservation of one of Spartanburg’s community gardens.

Spartanburg Cocktail Masters Returns Sept. 25
The fourth annual Spartanburg Cocktail Masters competition will return to the Spartanburg Marriott on Friday, Sept. 25, raising funds for Hubitality’s hospitality emergency fund.
The juried competition will feature signature cocktail and mocktail creations from local restaurants and bars. The event will also include tasting opportunities and panels of judges.

Re:Degree celebrates 100 graduates
Re:Degree recently marked a milestone with 100 people earning a college degree or high-value certification since the Spartanburg County program launched in 2024.
The program initially was not expected to have its first graduates until 2026. Reaching 100 graduates ahead of those projections demonstrates the program’s progress in connecting with Spartanburg County residents who have completed some college coursework but have not earned a degree.
Re:Degree works with collegiate partners to help residents return to higher education and complete credentials that can lead to career and economic opportunities.
Program leaders credited their collegiate partners and the Spartanburg Academic Movement’s Movement 2030 initiative for providing foundational support.
With its first 100 graduates now celebrated, Re:Degree leaders are looking toward the next milestone as the program continues its efforts to help more Spartanburg County residents complete their postsecondary education.
