City launches Wall Street Wednesdays entertainment series
The City of Spartanburg is launching a new downtown live entertainment series, Wall Street Wednesdays, this fall.
The program will feature local musicians and performers on Wednesdays from August through October, with performances scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The city is accepting applications from local entertainers interested in participating in the series.
Hampton Heights Porchfest Returns for Third Year
The Hampton Heights Historic Neighborhood will host its third annual Porchfest on Sunday, Sept. 27, bringing live music, food and a neighborhood block-party atmosphere to one of downtown Spartanburg’s oldest historic neighborhoods.
The free community event will feature 12 local bands performing across six historic porches along West Hampton Avenue. Attendees can stroll through the neighborhood, enjoy live music and take in the historic homes that make Hampton Heights a distinctive part of Spartanburg.
Food trucks will also be on hand, adding to the festival atmosphere and giving residents and visitors an opportunity to spend the afternoon enjoying music, food and community.Porchfest is designed to showcase local musicians while celebrating the history and character of the Hampton Heights neighborhood.

HALTER fundraiser set for August 15
HALTER: Healing & Learning Through Equine Relationships will host its annual Horsing with HALTER fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 15, at its facility, 1400 Carolina Country Club Road in Spartanburg.Presented by Spartanburg Regional, the event will feature barbecue, live music and dancing, live and silent auctions, puppies and other family-friendly activities. Chesnee graduates honor beloved former teacher
Members of the 2026 graduating class at Chesnee High School paid tribute to a beloved former teacher by wearing purple ribbons during their commencement ceremony.
The ribbons honored Jewell Garland, a fifth-grade teacher at Mayo Elementary School who dedicated 48 years to educating students in Spartanburg School District 2. Garland died in 2019, but many graduates had been members of her final fifth-grade class and chose to recognize the lasting impact she had on their lives by wearing the ribbons during graduation.
The tribute served as a reminder of Garland's legacy and the influence she continues to have on former students years after her passing.
OneSpartanburg to host downtown Spartanburg discussion
Residents and business leaders are invited to learn more about the future of downtown Spartanburg during the next Caffeinated Conversations hosted by OneSpartanburg Inc.
The program will feature Downtown Manager Jamie Smith, who will discuss his role, provide updates on downtown development projects, and share ways residents and visitors can make the most of their time in the city's central business district.
The event is scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at OneSpartanburg Inc. Registration is available online through OneSpartanburg.
Yellow-themed exhibit opens at TJC Gallery in downtown Spartanburg
A new exhibition celebrating the color yellow is now on display at TJC Gallery, 154 W. Main St., in downtown Spartanburg. Titled Yellow, the exhibit explores how shades of yellow, gold and ochre have been used across centuries, cultures and artistic styles to convey emotion and meaning.
The exhibition will remain on display through Oct. 17. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with additional opportunities to view the exhibit during monthly ArtWalk events.
Michael Jackson tribute show coming to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium
Fans of the King of Pop can relive the music and dance of Michael Jackson when INVINCIBLE: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson comes to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Aug. 21.
The touring production celebrates Jackson's career with performances of his biggest hits, signature choreography and iconic stage style. The show features routines created by Lavelle Smith Jr., a longtime choreographer and collaborator of Jackson, and recreates many of the entertainer's most recognizable dance moves and performances.
The concert is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages. Tickets are available through the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium box office and its website.
Ciclops celebrates opening of new trailside taproom
Ciclops Cyderi & Brewery celebrated the grand opening of its new taproom Aug. 8 at BoxCar Apartments along the Mary Black Rail Trail.
Located at 1097 Union St., the new location opened after more than a year of construction. The Spartanburg brewery marked the occasion with a "Krampus in July" themed celebration, continuing its tradition of embracing the unconventional while welcoming customers to its newest space.
