Wofford to host annual Fan Fest on Friday, August 7
Wofford College will welcome the community to its annual Fan Fest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 7 on Cummings Street outside Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg.
The free event will feature a Wofford men's soccer scrimmage, opportunities to meet the Terriers' fall 2026 student-athletes, food trucks, games and family activities in "Terrier Town." The evening will conclude with an outdoor screening of Zootopia 2.

City launches Wall Street Wednesdays entertainment series
The City of Spartanburg is launching a new downtown live entertainment series, Wall Street Wednesdays, this fall.
The program will feature local musicians and performers on Wednesdays from August through October, with performances scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The city is accepting applications from local entertainers interested in participating in the series.
7 Brew to celebrate first Spartanburg location with August 7 ribbon-cutting
Coffee chain 7 Brew will celebrate the opening of its first Spartanburg location at 1624 E Main Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 7, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Known for its drive-thru service, the company offers specialty coffees, energy drinks, refreshers and other beverages while emphasizing fast, customer-focused service.
The new location marks the brand's first entry into the Spartanburg market.
Chesnee High teacher named Spartanburg District 2 Teacher of the Year
Chesnee - Megan Coffey, an English teacher at Chesnee High School, has been named Spartanburg School District 2's 2026-27 Teacher of the Year.
Coffey received the honor during the district's Welcome Back Convocation on Aug. 1. As part of the recognition, she was awarded a $4,500 check through a sponsorship from Thompson Turner Construction.
Coffey said her students inspire her to continue improving as an educator.
"My students," she said when asked what motivates her.
"And then trying to refine my practice so that I can best serve them."
She also encouraged those considering a career in education, describing teaching as a rewarding profession.
Spartanburg Young Professionals to host August networking event
Young professionals from across Spartanburg County are invited to expand their professional networks and build community connections during the next Spartanburg Young Professionals (SYP) & Social even on
Monday, Aug. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Beerded Cork Taproom on Spartanburg's east side.
The event is open to young professionals interested in meeting others from a variety of industries and organizations.

Spartanburg Community College and College of Charleston announce strategic Partnership to expand educational opportunities in South Carolina
Spartanburg Community College (SCC) and the College of Charleston recently announced a new partnership designed to strengthen educational pathways and expand opportunities for students across South Carolina.
This collaboration, part of the EPIC Scholars program, establishes seamless transfer pathways for SCC students seeking to continue their education through the College of Charleston's Bachelor of Professional Studies program.
The partnership increases access to higher education, supports student success, and strengthens South Carolina's workforce by creating affordable, streamlined pathways to bachelor's degree completion.
The partnership officially launched in August 2025 and will remain in effect for a period of five years, further strengthening the relationship between Spartanburg Community College and the College of Charleston while expanding educational opportunities for students throughout South Carolina.
HALTER fundraiser set for August 15
HALTER: Healing & Learning Through Equine Relationships will host its annual Horsing with HALTER fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 15, at its facility, 1400 Carolina Country Club Road in Spartanburg.Presented by Spartanburg Regional, the event will feature barbecue, live music and dancing, live and silent auctions, puppies and other family-friendly activities. Yellow-themed exhibit opens at TJC Gallery in downtown Spartanburg
A new exhibition celebrating the color yellow is now on display at TJC Gallery, 154 W. Main St., in downtown Spartanburg. Titled Yellow, the exhibit explores how shades of yellow, gold and ochre have been used across centuries, cultures and artistic styles to convey emotion and meaning.
The exhibition will remain on display through Oct. 17. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with additional opportunities to view the exhibit during monthly ArtWalk events.
Michael Jackson tribute show coming to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium
Fans of the King of Pop can relive the music and dance of Michael Jackson when INVINCIBLE: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson comes to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Aug. 21.
The touring production celebrates Jackson's career with performances of his biggest hits, signature choreography and iconic stage style. The show features routines created by Lavelle Smith Jr., a longtime choreographer and collaborator of Jackson, and recreates many of the entertainer's most recognizable dance moves and performances.
The concert is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages. Tickets are available through the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium box office and its website.
