Strong Towns Spartanburg to host community bike ride
Residents are invited to explore Spartanburg on two wheels during an upcoming community bike ride hosted by Strong Towns Spartanburg.The group’s “Pedal Burg” ride is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 17 and will begin at Fretwell, located at 101 Fretwell St. Organizers describe the ride as a leisurely, family-friendly outing lasting approximately 20 minutes.
The event is open to riders of all ages and is designed to promote alternative transportation options while encouraging support for local businesses and community connections throughout Spartanburg.Participants who need a bicycle for the ride are encouraged to contact Strong Towns Spartanburg in advance to arrange a loaner bike.
In the event of inclement weather, organizers will hold an indoor meeting on June 17 and reschedule the ride for June 24.
Spartanburgers bring pro wrestling night to Fifth Third Park
The Hub City Spartanburgers will host Pro Wrestling Night on Saturday, June 13, at Fifth Third Park, presented by ReGenesis Healthcare.
Fans can enjoy wrestling-themed entertainment throughout the game, special appearances and a pregame wrestling show. The "Action at the Fraction" event begins at 3 p.m.
Tickets are available through the Spartanburgers website and are expected to sell quickly.
Music on Mill Returns to Downtown Inman
The City of Inman's popular Music on Mill summer concert series returns June 12 with an evening of live music, classic cars and family-friendly fun.
The free event will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at 26 Mill St. in downtown Inman. This week’s event will feature the James Radford Band. Music on Mill continues every Friday night in June, offering live entertainment, food trucks and inflatables for children.

Run for Fathers 5K returns to Duncan Park
The Spartanburg Upstate Fatherhood Coalition will host its third annual Run for Fathers 5K on June 27 at Duncan Park, inviting community members to walk or run in support of fathers and families throughout the region.
The event aims to raise awareness of the coalition’s work assisting disadvantaged fathers while promoting the important role fathers play in building strong families and communities.
According to the organization, the Spartanburg Upstate Fatherhood Coalition is dedicated to empowering fathers by connecting them with resources, support networks and encouragement designed to help them succeed in their roles as parents and community members.The family-friendly event is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels. Spartanburg Unity Market to highlight Black-owned businesses ahead of Juneteenth
The Spartanburg Unity Market will celebrate Spartanburg’s Black business community and Juneteenth Week on Tuesday, June 16, at Chapman Cultural Center, presented by Power Up Spartanburg.
The event will feature more than 40 local vendors offering a range of goods and services. The market will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

Taking Back Sunday to perform at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium
Rock band Taking Back Sunday will bring its 152 Tour to The Hall at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, June 14.
The concert will feature songs from the band's eighth studio album, "152," released in 2023, along with fan favorites from its catalog. Special guest Bayside will open the show.

Live Healthy Spartanburg exercise series returns to Morgan Square
Residents looking for a fun way to stay active are invited to take part in Live Healthy Spartanburg’s monthly community fitness event on June 13 in downtown Spartanburg.
The free, family-friendly exercise series will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Morgan Square and offers a variety of circuit-style workouts designed to accommodate participants of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. Running groups will depart at the top of each hour, providing additional opportunities for exercise and community engagement.

After-hours networking event planned at Downtown Spartanburg speakeasy
Local professionals will have an opportunity to make new connections and expand their networks during an after-hours networking event on Thursday, June 25, at The Zeplin in downtown Spartanburg.

History comes alive at Spartanburg Libraries
The Spartanburg County Public Libraries will bring history to life June 15-19 during the annual Chautauqua: History Comes Alive Festival.
The free event features nationally acclaimed historical interpreters portraying notable figures from American history, including Rebecca Motte, Mother Jones, Captain Henry Felder, Edgar Allan Poe and Paul Robeson. Performances will be held twice daily, with American Sign Language interpretation available during the 3 p.m. presentations.
Audience members will have the opportunity to hear from the historical figures and participate in question-and-answer sessions following each performance.

The Slice opens third Upstate location in Greer, launches fundraising campaign
The Slice, a family-owned pizzeria, has opened its newest location in Greer, marking its third restaurant in the Upstate.
The restaurant began welcoming customers May 28 at 107 S. Main St., expanding its footprint following earlier openings in Simpsonville and Fountain Inn.
As part of the launch, The Slice has partnered with Hope For The Day on a fundraising initiative focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
Through June 30, the restaurant will donate $1 from every kids’ menu item sold to the nonprofit, which provides mental health education and outreach aimed at encouraging open conversations and community support.
The Greer location is open at 107 S. Main St.
Spartanburg area residents urged to donate blood as summer supply drops
The American Red Cross is urging South Carolina residents to donate blood or platelets as the national blood supply faces a sharp decline heading into the busy summer trauma season.
Officials say scheduled donations have dropped significantly in recent weeks, raising concerns about maintaining enough blood for emergency situations, surgeries and patients with chronic illnesses. Summer months often bring increased accidents and injuries, while travel, school breaks and severe weather can reduce donations.
Anyone who donates blood or platelets June 1–28 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice and be entered to win one of two $7,500 gift cards.
Appointments can be made at RedCrossBlood.org, through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
